How to Hook Up Your PS3 Controller for MapleStory

The PS3 controller is compatible with a variety of Windows platforms.

For some avid gamers, using a computer keyboard to control and online character can be tedious. Fortunately many interactive online games such as MapleStory allow you to use a PlayStation 3 controller as an alternative gameplay method. To use the device for PC gaming, download the driver that is compatible with your 32-bit or 64-bit Windows platform. If you don’t know what type of processor you have, you can locate the specification in your computer manual.

Instructions

Using Windows 7 32-bit PC

1. Download the SIXAXIS driver (dl.qj.net/playstation-3/tools-and-utilities/sixaxis-driver-for-pc.html).

2. Unpack the 11679_Sixaxis_PS3_Win32_Driver_For_PC.rar file. The libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe and ps3sixaxis_en.exe files will be extracted to your PC.

3. Run the libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe file. After installing the file, run the ps3sixaxis_en.exe file.

4. Connect your PS3 controller to your computer and press the “PS” button.

5. Go to “Start” and open the “Control Panel.” Click the “View devices and printers” link, located in the Hardware and Sound section. Your PS3 controller will be listed in the Devices pane at top of the screen.

6. Right-click the PlayStation 3 controller icon and select the “Game controller settings” option. Click the “Properties” button in the Game Controllers window. Your PS3 controller should be working properly and you will be able to test each button’s function.

Using Windows 7 62-bit PC

1. Download the PS3 controller driver (motioninjoy.com/download).

2. Install the MotioninJoy_060004_amd64_signed.zip file.

3. Double-click the “DS3 Tool” icon on your desktop.

4. Connect your PS3 controller to your computer.

5. Click the “Driver Manager” link at the top of the screen. Select the driver in the Hardware Location field and click the “Load Driver” button. When the process is complete, the “Install MotioninJoy Driver Successfully” message will appear at the bottom of the screen.

6. Click the “Profiles” link, and then click the “Game Controller Panel” button. The “Game Controllers” dialog box will appear.

7. Click the “Properties” button. The “MotioninJoy Virtual Game Controller” window will appear and you will be able to test each button on your PS3 controller. After testing the controller, click “OK.”
