How to Improve the Wicking Action of an Evaporative Humidifier
The most common type of humidifier is an evaporative humidifier, which works by absorbing water through a wick. As water evaporates from the filter, a fan circulates moisture throughout the room. The effectiveness of an evaporative humidifier depends on relative humidity as well as the wicking action of the humidifier. Enhance absorption of a humidifier wick by performing regular wick maintenance. Does this Spark an idea?

Clean the wick by gently scrubbing areas that have dirt and debris. If you use tap water in your humidifier, you will notice hard mineral deposits near the middle of the wick. Use the toothbrush to carefully remove the deposits.

If mineral or dirt deposits cannot be removed through the rinsing and soaking action, replace the wick filter.
Rinse the water basin at least two times per week if the humidifier is used on a daily basis to prevent mildew development.
Do not place the wick filter in hot water as this can damage the fibers of the wick.
