Add video to your website by downloading Flowplayer.

To add flash video clips or live video streaming to your website, you can download a free or paid version of the Flowplayer application. Once downloaded, install the Flowplayer application to the root folder of your website, upload MP4-formatted video files to your site and place a snippet of code on each Web page on which you want to display video clips.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Web browser and go to Flowplayer.org/download.

    • 2

View the download options. You can use the free version of Flowplayer on multiple website domains, but the player interface always displays the Flowplayer logo. Alternatively, select a paid and unbranded version of the software for either a single website domain, multiple website domains up to a maximum of 100 domains, or an unlimited number of domains.

    • 3

Click the “Download Now” button to download the free, open-source version of Flowplayer. To download a paid version, click the check box confirming that you agree to Flowplayer’s terms and conditions. Click the radio button beside your preferred currency option. Click the “PayPal” payment button. Enter your PayPal account information or valid credit or debit card information into the applicable input fields. Flowplayer then downloads automatically.

    • 4

Click “Save” in the download dialog box. Wait for the compressed ZIP file to download to your computer. The download usually takes no more than two minutes, although it may take longer if you have a slower Internet connection.

    • 5

Go to the “Downloads” or “My Downloads” library folder on your computer. Right-click the Flowplayer ZIP file. Select “Extract All” from the context menu. Windows unzips the contents of the downloaded file to a new folder.

Tips & Warnings

  • To set up the application on your website, transfer the CSS file, the JS file and the two SWF files to the root folder of your website host’s server with your usual FTP tool or your Web host’s content management system control panel. Upload MP4 video clips to your website server.

  • To display each video clip with Flowplayer, add the JavaScript and HTML code in the “Example” folder that downloaded with the application file to the header and body section of each Web page, replacing the domain in the example code with your own website domain and the MP4 video file name with the name of your video file.
