How to Change IE Settings Programmatically

IE (Internet Explorer) has a number of settings that can be changed programmatically. To change things programmatically means you must adhere to the policies of a program interface, which in this case is the IE Internet Options dialog box. If there is a specific feature in IE that you would like to turn on or off, or if you just want to know what your options are for the settings, this dialog box is where you need to go.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the IE browser on your computer and click on the “Tools” menu. Select “Internet Options” from the menu to open the IE Internet Options dialog box.

    • 2

Go through the tabs at the top of the dialog box (“General,” “Security,” “Privacy,” “Content,” “Connections,” “Programs” and “Advanced”) to view all the modifiable settings in IE.

    • 3

Check or uncheck the desired check boxes and select or deselect the desired tick boxes to change the desired settings. Click “Apply” and “OK” when you are ready to save all your program changes.
