How to Change the Size of a Mac Login Banner thumbnail
You can make adjustments to the Mac Login banner to change the size.

A Mac Login banner is user-generated and normally displays a message, such as a user agreement, when someone wants to log in to the computer. The size of the banner is determined by the amount of text and pictures included in the banner. You can adjust the size of the banner by making changes to the text file containing the Login banner text.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Finder" icon in dock at the bottom of the screen, which opens a window that provides access to several system folders.

    • 2

Select "Library" and then the "Security" folders.

    • 3

Click the file named "PolicyBanner" to open a text document representation of the Login banner that appears on your Mac.

    • 4

Edit the contents of the "PolicyBanner" text file to change the size. If the banner is too large, reduce the size by deleting text or images or by changing the font size. A smaller text document results in a smaller banner. If the banner is too small, enter additional text, add pictures or increase the font size.

    • 5

Save the text document to the same location with the name "PolicyBanner" to overwrite the previous banner.

Tips & Warnings

  • Plain text documents do not support images. You need to create a document in Rich Text Format if you want to include pictures in your banner.
