Instructions

    • 1

Measure the circumference of the head where the band will generally be worn. Subtract 1.5 inches from this measurement to ensure a snug fit of the final product. Lay the T-shirt flat and cut the hem off the bottom.

    • 2

Cut three 2-inch-wide loops from the bottom of the T-shirt, then cut them open to form long strips. Secure the three strips together at one end with a few stitches. Tug lightly on the strips, causing the material to stretch slightly and form a more tubular shape.

    • 3

Tape the project at the seams to the workstation to hold in place while braiding. Braid the band to the prescribed length, trimming the ends 1 inch below the designated length. Secure the other end of the band with a few additional stitches.

    • 4

Sew the band together by forming a loop and allowing the remaining ends to overlap the braid. Sew into place.

    • 5

Cut a 2-inch square from the T-shirt. Wrap the square around the headband at the location of the seam to hide the loose ends. Sew into place for additional reinforcement.
