How to Do Two Strand Twist With Shea Butter
Getting a new hairstyle, such as the two-strand twist, is an ideal way to change your look for a special occasion. The two-strand twist gives hair a playful, feminine look with soft, bouncy curls, and the style works for both long and short hair. Most stylists use a special product called a pomade when they do the two-strand twist, but a mixture of shea butter and coconut oil works just as well. The shea butter and coconut oil soften the hair and make it easier to separate the twists and curls. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wash the hair with a sulfate-free shampoo. Rinse out the shampoo and apply conditioner. Leave the conditioner in and comb tangles out of the hair. After rinsing out the conditioner, squeeze the hair to remove excess water.
-
2
Apply a quarter-sized amount of conditioner to the hair and comb it through using your hands, starting at the back of the head. Separate the hair into four sections.
-
-
3
Put a dime-sized drop of coconut oil on your hands. Run your hands through the hair sections. Lightly mist the hair with cool water. Do not rinse out the conditioner and oil.
-
4
Separate one hair section from the other sections. Use clips or bobby pins to keep the other three sections out of your way.
-
5
Spray the separated hair section with cool water. Put a dab of shea butter in your hand, followed by a few drops of coconut oil. Rub your hands together to melt the shea butter.
-
6
Coat the separated hair with the shea butter and coconut oil. Separate the section into two smaller sections.
-
7
Twist the two sections together by moving one section over and under the other until you reach the end of the hair. Make the twists as tight or as loose as you want. If you want the hair to fall to the left or right, pull it in the desired direction as you twist. Repeat this process with the other hair sections. Remove the clips or bobby pins when you finish.
