How to Build a King/Queen Throne
Treat your children to a medieval play set. Supply dress-up clothes and bring in cardboard boxes for make-believe castles and towers. You can also make your little ones a pair of thrones where they can reign as king and queen. Children love role-playing and their imaginations can have a field day with some simple supplies and props. Give your children a place where they can be kings and princesses, queens and knights. You can start by creating a pair of easy-to-make thrones.

1
Take apart the cardboard boxes. Use the scissors or craft knife to carve an elaborate head piece for each chair, which extends the height of the chair. Tape the cardboard head piece to the back of the chair using the duct tape.
-
2
Make a simple slipcover for each chair. Drape the red or purple fabric over the chair and pin it into place. Pin the fabric so the children can see the shape of the head piece for each throne.

3
Decorate the throne with the gold ribbons and tassels. Tie them onto the arms and around the front legs of the throne.
-
4
Glue rhinestones and acrylic jewelry along the edges of the head pieces, and on the arms and front legs of the chairs.
-
5
Put the cushions on the seats of the thrones. Find cushions that match the color of the fabric slipcover.
-
6
Make two nameplates with some of the remaining cardboard. Cover each nameplate with remaining fabric from the slipcovers. Write out each child’s name with rhinestone or acrylic jewels and glue them to the nameplate. Tape or glue the nameplate to the head piece of the thrones.
