How to Check for Dead Pixels on a Monitor Using Ubuntu
There are a few types of pixel failures that can occur with LCD monitors. The first type of failure is known as a stuck pixel. Stuck pixels are frozen in one of the three primary LCD colors. They can either be red, green or blue. There are several methods for repairing stuck pixels. The other type of pixel failure is known as a dead pixel. Dead pixels are black and, unlike stuck pixels, they cannot be repaired. Detecting dead pixels is best done using contrast. Given that dead pixels are black, any application that has a blank white background, such as a word processor or drawing program, can help you find where the pixels are.
