How to Replace the Cooktop on a GE Model JSP28G0P3BG

Without a functioning cooking surface, your GE JSP28G0P3BG range is practically useless. The appliance is designed to make lifting and replacing the cooktop as simple as possible – you don't even have to remove the heating elements. This GE range is an older model, and as such it is susceptible to rust around the drip pans. Installing a new cooktop or one harvested from another model will give your range a new lease on life. Unplug the range or shut off the power supply at the appropriate fuse or circuit breaker.

Detach the wiring connections at the back of the underside of the cooktop by pulling the plastic plug out of its socket.

Hold the cooktop in position and lower the supporting arms. Lift the back of the stove to detach the hooking latch. Move the cooktop down, then pull forward to separate it from the range. Set the cooktop aside.

Hook the back edge of the new cooktop in place and raise the support arm. Reattach the wiring connections.
