How to Create and Decorate a Nursery Without Painting

Nothing embodies the feeling of a baby coming into the world than decorating a nursery for the little newcomer. While it is exciting to visualize a room that caters to an infant, keeping the room simple and refraining from too many permanent additions allows the room to grow and adapt along with your child. Though you may not want to paint the room for various reasons, you can still find excitement in decorating this special room for you and your newborn to share.

Instructions

1. Hang paintings and photographs that use light colors, such as pastels, to maintain a calm environment. Be sure the wall fixtures are child-safe. When choosing colors for the floor, stick to light shades to give the room a more spacious feel.

2. Choose curtains and bedding fabrics with color hues that match the floor and walls. Be creative and use designs such as animal prints, polka dots or candy stripes to liven the atmosphere.

3. Move a crib, rocking chair and toy chest into the room, arranging them as desired. If the crib does not have retractable bars, a changing table is required.

4. Place lots of stuffed animals and plush toys in various parts of the room. Ensure any toys you purchase meet the general safety guidelines for infants, avoiding anything with sharp edges and small parts.

5. Add accessories such as nightlights, play mats and a baby monitor. Use plastic safety plugs in any unused power outlets. If the room has cupboards with sharp door edges or that contain baby wipes and other baby-care products, use child locks to prevent unwanted access.
