A printer is essential if you need to print documents, address labels, print on envelopes or create your own postcards. A laser printer is best suited when you need to print pages quickly without waiting for the nozzles to heat up. 1
Open the rear cover to remove jammed paper from the printer. The red LED light on the front of the printer will flash if a jam occurs. Pull the paper out firmly but gently, then open and close the top cover to resume printing. If the paper rips in the process, remove any excess scraps from the inside.
-
2
Remove any paper or other media from the tray if it refuses to load into the printer for printing, smooth out any wrinkles or creases, and replace. Only load one type of media at a time. Don't mix standard printer paper with envelopes or vice-versa. Don't overfill the tray with media or you'll increase the chances of errors.

3
Check the power to the printer if it refuses to print at all. Plug the power cord into another outlet.
-
4
Examine the cable connecting the computer to the printer if it powers on but doesn't communicate with the computer. You may need to purchase a new printer cable or try a different USB port.
-
5
Replace the toner cartridge if your printer is actually printing but the results spit out blank pages. If the pages print very light or faded, your toner is most likely low and will need to be replaced.
-
6
Update the printer drivers if you experience any other problems with the computer and printer communicating. Driver updates fix known errors and sometimes add extra functionality to the device.
