How-to: Back-Tie Sundresses
Sundresses come in a variety of lengths, materials and colors, and they also include different closures such as snaps and zippers. The majority of sundresses are designed to tie in the back with ribbon or straps. It can be difficult to back-tie a sundress if you don't have someone to help, as many people can't reach behind their back to tie a bow or a knot. However, there are ways to tie a sundress on your own, even if the tie is located in a hard-to-reach area on your back.

1
Put the dress on by pulling it up over your legs or down over your head. Do not put your arms in the straps; instead, act as if it is a strapless dress and position it in place around your chest and hips.
-
2
Turn the dress 180 degrees until the back of the dress is on the front of your body. Attempt to keep the dress sitting correctly on your chest and hips as you turn it so it doesn't slip up or down.

3
Tie the straps with the back of the dress in front of you. Tie a knot and leave the straps hanging down, or tie a large bow. If the dress has an attached sash or belt, tie it in a bow. Wrap long sashes or straps once around the middle of the dress before tying a bow in the back, which will be located on the front of your body now.

4
Rotate the dress 180 degrees again so the knot or bow is located on your back. Carefully slip your arms through the arm straps.
-
5
Align the two mirrors and stand between them so you can see your back. Check the positioning of the bow, belt or sash and ensure the back of the dress looks securely closed.

Reach behind your back to close the dress if you are flexible enough; use the mirrors to help you see what you're doing.
