How to Fix Sagging Polyfill Cushions

Cushions provide you with a comfortable place to rest, whether on a bench, bar stool, couch or even the floor. After awhile of continued use, the stuffing in any cushion is likely to wear out, causing the cushion to sag. Don't toss that cushion in the trash just yet, though. You can breathe new life into those saggy cushions with some fresh polyfill stuffing. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Open the cushion along one side using a seam ripper. If you have trouble isolating the thread of the seam from the threads of the fabric, pull the fabric on each side of the seam in opposite directions at the same time. The stress on the seam helps reveal the thread.

    • 2

Remove the polyfill stuffing from inside the cushion.

    • 3

Grab a chunk of the new stuffing roughly the size of a basketball. Knead the stuffing by pulling it apart and bunching it back together several times. This kneading prevents the cushion from becoming lumpy.

    • 4

Stuff the kneaded stuffing into the cushion.

    • 5

Close the cushion using a slip stitch on the same side where you ripped the seam. Use the creases and holes left from the original seam as a guide.
