Add ActionScript commands to Flash buttons.

The Adobe Creative Suite 4 includes Flash CS4 that lets Web developers design animations and interactive elements for use on the Internet. Developers can use a special coding language known as ActionScript to make Flash CS4 items perform certain actions. For example, you can set up a button in Flash that will close a current item when a user clicks on it.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the Flash CS4 and open the file in which you want to set up a new button. Click on the text or shape that you want to use for the button to select it.

    • 2

Press the "F8" key and select "Button" in the box that appears.

    • 3

Press "F9" to launch the Actions Panel.

    • 4

Click on the "+" button and go to the Global Functions menu.

    • 5

Open the "Browser/Network" sub-menu and select "fscommand."

    • 6

Place your text cursor on line two of the ActionScript code.

    • 7

Go to the "Commands for Standalone Player" menu and select the "Quit" command. This will convert the selected object into a "Close" button.
