How to Wear a SwiMP3

Listen to music underwater with the SwiMP3.

The FINIS SwiMP3 is an MP3 player designed for underwater use. Instead of traditional speakers, the SwiMP3 uses bone conduction technology to transfer the sound to your body. The SwiMP3 contains two units that rest over the cheekbones on either side of your head, where it vibrates. The vibrations are transferred directly from your cheekbones to your inner ear, where you hear the sound normally, even if you’re underwater or wearing earplugs. The SwiMP3 attaches to a pair of swimming goggles.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the SwiMP3 to a pair of swimming goggles. Remove the strap from your goggles. Thread the strap through through the holes on each SwiMP3 unit and reattach the strap to the goggles.

    • 2

Position the SwiMP3 unit near your goggle’s lenses on the strap.

    • 3

Put the goggles on, ensuring that the SwiMP3’s cable goes behind your head with the strap.

    • 4

Position each SwiMP3 unit so that the speaker rests over your cheekbones, in front of your ears. Do not place the speakers over your ears. The SwiMP3’s above-water sound could damage your hearing if you place the speakers directly over your ears.

    • 5

Insert earplugs into your ears. Earplugs are optional, but improve the SwiMP3’s sound quality by blocking outside noise.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear the SwiMP3 over a swim cap if the units move around and don’t stay in place.

  • Turn on the SwiMP3 by pressing and holding the “Power” button on it for the seconds, then releasing the button. Repeat this process to turn it off. A green light on the bottom of the unit containing the controls blinks every five seconds when it’s on.

  • Heed all of the manufacturer's directions and warnings on the device. Misusing the SwiMP3 could result in permanent hearing loss.
