How to Make an Active Slideshow for iWeb

You can import iPhoto slideshows into an iWeb layout.

Apple's iLife software suite includes a picture management program called iPhoto and a Website design and publishing tool called iWeb. Within iPhoto, you can build custom slideshows using images from your digital camera, pictures from the Internet and special effects. After you export an iPhoto slideshow as a Quicktime movie file, you can add it to your iWeb site to give your site visitors the ability to view an active slideshow in their browsers.

Things You'll Need

• Mac running OS X 10.5 or later
• iLife '08 or later

Instructions

1. Launch the iPhoto application.

2. Hold down the "Command" key on your keyboard and click on the photos that you want to include in the slideshow.

3. Click on the "Create" button in the bottom toolbar and choose the "Slideshow" option.

4. Enter a name for the slideshow and then use the photo browser at the top of the window to arrange the images in the desired order.

5. Click on the "Themes" button in the bottom toolbar, choose the theme you want to use for the slideshow and press "Choose."

6. Highlight the name of the slideshow you just created from the list on the left side of the window.

7. Press the "Export" button in the bottom toolbar.

8. Uncheck the box next to "Automatically send slideshow to iTunes."

9. Press "Export," navigate to your desktop in the pop-up window and then click "OK."

10. Close iPhoto and launch iWeb.

11. Open the "File" menu at the top of the screen and select "New Page."

12. Choose the page theme you want to use on the left side of the pop-up window and then double-click on the page template labeled "Movie."

13. Drag and drop the Quicktime movie file on your desktop into the placeholder in the middle of the page.

14. Click the "Publish Site" button in the bottom toolbar to add the active slideshow to your site.
