How to Install WinSCP & Reset Your Password

WinSCP is a free FTP client for Windows users that allows you access to Web and file servers. You can download and install the WinSCP client from the WinSCP website. When using the WinSCP client, you're prompted for password authentication from the server. You can reset your password if your current password has been compromised or you simply want to use a new password.

      Download WinSCP. Save the Installer file to your desktop.

      Double-click the WinSCP icon on your desktop.

      Select “English” from the Setup Language window.

      Click “Next” at the Welcome and License Agreement screen.

      Click “Typical Installation.”

      Click “Explorer Interface” for Initial User Settings and click “Next.”

      Review the installation options you selected from the "Ready to Install" screen and click “Install.”

      Restart your computer after WinSCP has successfully installed.

      Click “Start” and “All Programs.” Click “WinSCP” from the All Programs menu. WinSCP prompts you for a username and password for authentication.

      Type your current password in the “Current Password” field.

      Type your new password in the “New Password” and “Confirm New Password” fields.

      Click “OK” to save your new password.
