How to Burn a DVDR Mini to a DVD Using a Computer

Mini DVD camcorders give you the ability to record your home movies directly to mini DVD discs. With DVD-RAM discs, you can record, erase and re-record on a single disc almost 100,000 times before needing to replace the disc. With DVD-R discs, you can record up to two hours of footage that you can view on just about any DVD player. To copy the contents of a mini DVD to a standard DVD disc, you will need a computer with a DVD burner drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the mini DVD from your camcorder, and insert it into your DVD drive.

    • 2

      Open your DVD ripping/burning software.

    • 3

Open the contents of the mini DVD disc, and select the files you want to copy. When prompted, select a target folder you want to use to temporarily store the files that you want to burn to the standard DVD disc.

    • 4

Click the “Start” button to begin copying the files from the mini DVD disc. You will be notified when the ripping process is complete.

    • 5

Eject the mini DVD disc after the ripping process is complete, and insert a blank DVD.

    • 6

Select the DVD burning/authoring option in your software.

    • 7

Select the files you ripped from the mini DVD, and add them into the burn queue. Click the “Start” button to begin the burning process. If prompted by the software, select the “Finalize” option once the burn is complete. Finalizing the disc will allow it to be viewed on any DVD drive or player. Non-finalized discs are only viewable on drives specifically designed to read them.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can streamline the process if you have both a DVD drive and a DVD burner drive installed on your computer.
