How to Fix a Digitized Embroidery Design Using the Start & Stop Beads
Scanning an embroidery design allows it to be manipulated on a computer, as well as shared with others and printed out as many times as desired. Electrical interference during the scanning can interfere with the quality of the image, and make it hard to see the different sections of the digitized embroidery file on the screen, such as where the placement of the Start and Stop beads are located. Fix the design by “cleaning up” the digital image so there is no problem in viewing it on the screen or on a printout.

1
Click “Start.” Select the graphic imaging program from the “All Applications” sub-menu. Do nothing until the program’s main window comes up on the screen.
-
2
Click “File,” followed by the “Open File” sub-menu at the top of the program. Navigate in the window that appears to the digitized file of the embroidery design. Highlight the file by clicking on it once. Click the “Open” button at the bottom of the window, to load the file into the graphic imaging program.

-
3
Right-click the “Clone brush” icon from the program’s toolbar, typically to the right of the window that displays a graphic of the digitized file. Draw a circle around the area of the file that is difficult to view due to the “noise” that is impregnated in it during the scanning. If right-clicking has no effect on the icon, hold the “Alt” key as you right-click on the icon, then draw the circle without releasing the key.
-
4
Left-click on the “Clone brush” icon. Run the brush that replaced the mouse pointer, across the length and width of the interior of the circle, in an irregular pattern. Continue to do this until the graphic imaging that was unclear can now be seen.
-
5
Click “File,” followed by the “Save file” sub-menu at the top of the program. Name the digitized embroidery design file, with a different name than the original, in the “Name” text field at the top of the window that appears. Select “Desktop” from the drop-down menu in the middle of the window. Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the window. Quit the program once the window disappears, to signify the file is saved.
