How to Make Tissue Puffs
Tissue paper is a common sight in gift bags, presents and any other projects that require wrapping. However, tissue paper is often only used once and then thrown away. For a green alternative to tossing or burning left over tissue paper, considering making craft projects from the material, such as tissue puffs, also called tissue poms, which can be used to decorate for parties or other special events.
Things You'll Need
- 8 20 x 30 inch pieces of tissue paper
- Floral or other bendable wire
- Scissors

Stack eight sheets of tissue paper in an even pile with the shorter side of the rectangle facing you.

Fold the paper using accordion folds. Start with the edge that is closest to you. Make each fold 1 1/2 inches wide, as if you were making a fan. Continue until the entire stack of tissue paper is folded.

Cut a piece of floral wire. Bend it in half over the middle of the tissue pile. Twist the end of the wire to hold it in place on the center of the tissue paper. Bend the ends so they are not exposed.

Cut the ends of each side of the tissue paper in a V shape.

Grab one layer at a time and separate each layer of tissue paper. Pull the tissue paper away from the center as you do this until a ball is created.

Tips & Warnings
Trim the ends of the tissue paper after securing the wire to be circular to change the final look of the tissue puffs.
Make smaller puffs by cutting the length of the tissue paper after the accordion fold.
