How to Make Your Own Volleyball Headbands
Making volleyball headbands is a simple sewing craft for working with children and teens. It is a creative way to use up scrap pieces of fabric or recycle old T-shirts. Attach an elastic band for an adjustable fit. Sew on embellishments for extra flair, such as sequins or buttons. For a thicker headband, insert a layer of fleece between the fabric layers before sewing them together.

1
Measure and cut two pieces of fabric that are 13 inches long and 3 inches wide.
-
2
Place the two pieces of fabric lengthwise across your work surface with the right sides together.
-
-
3
Pin the edges of the fabric to hold the piece together while you sew.
-
4
Sew the top and bottom edges together leaving a ½-inch seam. Do not sew the left and right edges together. Leave the side edges open so that you can insert the elastic band.
-
5
Turn the fabric right-side out. Iron the fabric so the seams lay flat.
-
6
Measure and cut a 9-inch piece of elastic.
-
7
Tuck one end of the elastic inside the two layers of fabric on one side of the headband. Fold the fabric edges under and pin them over the elastic. Sew the edge seams closed over the elastic.
-
8
Repeat Step 7 to attach the elastic band on the other side of the headband.
