Ponds, waterways and wells can all be sources of water for lawns and gardens. Getting the water from there to where it is needed usually requires some kind of pump. Instructions

    • 1

Check the specifications on the water pump to determine the type of outlet connector that you have. If it is the standard hose connector then you do not need any other connector. If not, you will need a hose coupling connector with a standard female hose connector on one side and a matching one to your pump on the other side.

Screw the hose directly on to your pump if they have matching connectors. If necessary, screw a coupling connector on to to pump and the hose on to it. Hand tighten the connections only.

    • 3

Connect the sprinkler to the other end of the hose. Roughly adjust where the sprinkler will go and turn the pump on. After the water comes out of the sprinkler and you can see where it is landing, give the sprinkler head a final adjustment to ensure no water is being wasted.

Tips & Warnings

  • Taking water from a moving waterway, even if it flows across your property, may be illegal. Check with your state water board to determine your water rights.
