How to Move Quicken 2004 data to Quicken Essentials

Quicken makes financial software that works with both Windows and Mac OS X. If you decide to switch from a Windows computer to a Mac, you can still use the data from your Windows Quicken 2004 file in Quicken Essentials for Mac. Quicken Essentials is a version of Quicken software for the Mac. The Quicken Essentials installation CD has a converter utility that converts Windows Quicken data files into the Essentials format.

      Insert the Quicken Essentials installation CD into the disk drive of your Windows computer. The Essentials converter utility automatically installs; If it does not, click "Start," then "Computer" and right-click on the disk drive icon. Select "Open" from the pop-up menu, then double-click "Quicken_Converter_Setup.exe." The converter automatically installs. If you no longer have your Essentials installation CD, you can download the converter from the Quicken website.

      Launch the Converter utility, then follow the directions to convert your Quicken 2004 data to the Quicken Essentials format. For example, select the data that you want to convert and choose the location where you want to save the file, such as a CD or USB drive. Click "Finish" when the conversion is complete.

      Insert the CD or the USB drive containing the converted Quicken file into the appropriate drive or port on your Mac computer.

      Launch Quicken Essentials on your Mac, then click "File" from the menu bar.
