Instructions for the Tornado Fuel Saver

The Tornado Fuel Saver is a device composed of stationary metal blades designed to fit inside the air inlet hose or directly inside your car's air cleaner. The purpose of this product is to redirect the incoming airflow into a vortex of swirling wind, resulting in an optimal air fuel mixture. The manufacturer says this will increase your vehicle’s mileage and horsepower. These claims are a subject of debate among car enthusiasts.

Instructions

  1. Installation for Fuel-Injected Engines

    • 1

Disconnect the air inlet hose -- the hose between the air filter box and the engine -- from the air box. The two most common methods used to connect the air inlet hose to the air box are a screw-type clamp and a lever-type clamp. Loosen the screw on a screw-type clamp with a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver, depending on the application. A lever-type clamp is tightened and loosened by simply pushing down or lifting up a lever. Once the clamp has been loosened, pull the hose off the air filter box.

    • 2

Measure the inside diameter of the air hose with a tape measure to determine what size Tornado your vehicle requires. Contact the manufacturer with the measurement to get the correct model for your car.

    • 3

Insert the Tornado Fuel Saver into the air inlet hose so that the outside wall of the device is seated completely and firmly along the inside wall of the air hose. Make sure the outer edge of the Tornado is flush with the end of the air inlet hose.

    • 4

Reconnect the air inlet hose to the air box and fasten the hose by reversing the removal process outlined in Step 1.

Installation for Carbureted and Throttle Body Injected Engines

    • 5

Remove the lid from the air cleaner base. The lids of most air cleaners are fastened with either a wing nut screwed onto a post in the center of the lid or clamps along the edges of the air cleaner.

    • 6

Lay a flat ruler on top of the air filter over the center of the air cleaner. Place a tape measure on the bottom of the air cleaner, three inches from the center of the carburetor, and measure the height to the flat ruler. Write down this measurement.

    • 7

Measure the air cleaner lid. Air cleaner lids can either be raised above, dip below, or be at the same level as the top rim of the air cleaner base. For raised lids, place a flat ruler across the bottom of the lid and place a tape measure on the center of the inside of the lid. Measure the height to the ruler. For lids that dip down into the air cleaner, place a flat ruler across the top of the lid and place a tape measure on the center of the outside of the lid. Measure the height to the ruler. Write down this measurement. Add this measurement with the base measurement for lids that are raised, subtract it if the lid drops lower than the rim of the air cleaner base to determine the inner height. If the air cleaner lid is flat, the measurement of the air cleaner base is the only one you will need. Contact the manufacture with your measurement to get the correct model for your car.

    • 8

Install the Tornado Fuel Saver device with the metal base on top. There is a hole in the center of the metal top plate to accommodate air cleaners with a center post.

    • 9

Lay the air cleaner lid on top of the base and fasten the lid securely.
