Instructions

    • 1

Select a location on your roof where you would like to mount the KVH TracVision R5. Keep in mind it needs a clear view of the southern sky, so you'll want to keep it away from any obstructions on your roof, such as air conditioners.

    • 2

Remove the two tie-wrap shipping restraints from the bottom of the antenna's baseplate using the cutting pliers. After removing, seal the tie-wrap holes using the plugs provided in your TracVision R5 kit.

    • 3

Apply construction adhesive to the three mounting plates on the bottom of the antenna, and place the antenna on the roof of your RV. You will want to make sure the arrow on the front of the antenna points to the front of your vehicle.

    • 4

Use the fasteners to attach the antenna's mounting plates to your RV's roof.

    • 5

Seal all of the fasteners with silicone sealant.

    • 6

Use the switchplate mounting template found in your KVH TracVision R5 kit to cut a hole in your roof to place the switchplate. Drill 2.25mm holes in each mounting hole location, which are marked on the template, to use to attach the switchplate later on.

    • 7

Route your RF cable down through the roof, and then seal the hole with the clamshell ventilator included in your KVH TracVision kit. Connect one end of the RF cable to your antenna, and the other to the receiver inside your RV.

    • 8

Connect the switchplate and antenna to the roof of your RV.

Tips & Warnings

  • Especially given this task involves cutting several holes in the roof of your RV, it is one that is best handled by a professional. If you do not have a background in installing electric wiring and cable, this is something you may want to leave to a professional.
