How to Identify a Marvel-Schebler Carb
Marvel-Schebler carburetors mix fuel and air in the right proportions so that fuel burns efficiently in an engine. They control the exact proportion of air allowed into the engine. With a well-maintained carburetor, your engine will run efficiently. On the other hand, a carburetor in poor condition may cause your engine to fail completely. If you are looking to fix your engine, it's important to first identify this component.

1
Examine the machine. Marvel-Schebler carburetors are typically found in agricultural machinery and industrial machinery. If you are tuning a car or other vehicle, it is unlikely to have a Marvel-Schebler carburetor.
-
2
Look for a component near the engine that has a large hole in it. The exact location and appearance of the carburetor will differ depending on the type of engine, but the carburetor always has a large hollow hole, called the venturi, through which air passes on the way to the engine. Since Marvel-Schebler carburetors are often found in tractors, they are often small and the same size as an adult's fist.

3
Look for writing. Marvel-Schebler carburetors are typically labeled as such. The label is printed on the side of carburetor with a sloping line running between the two names.
-
4
Look at the individual components. A Marvel-Schebler carburetor should have a small needle jet, an idling system and a main jet. If you have problems identifying these components, visit a website such as I-36, which has a large assortment of pictures you can use to compare with the carburetor.

5
Turn on the engine and let it idle. Marvel-Schebler carburetors are particularly efficient when running in idle for long periods of time. Listen to the sound of the engine and confirm that it's running smoothly. However, even a Marvel-Schebler carburetor may have problems if the carburetor is dirty. Any carburetor could run smoothly, but if it doesn't, it's less likely to be a Marvel-Schebler carb.

Tips & Warnings
Do not attempt to fix the carburetor yourself if you lack experience. Carburetors are complex pieces of machinery that are best fixed by a mechanic until you become more experienced.
