How to Do a Cat Eyebrow

How to Do a Cat Eyebrow thumbnail
Shaping your brows after a warm shower is less painful and irritating.

Cats are famous for their glinting, captivating eyes, inspiring celebrities like Julianne Moore's cat eye makeup style in "A Single Man." Cat eyes describe the collective appearance of one's eyebrows, eyelashes, eyeliner and eye shadow. While mascara and heavy eyeliner accentuate your retinas, cat eyebrows play a different role. The upward arch of the cat eyebrow style makes your entire eye area appear larger and wider than a low-arching brow shape. The heavy pencil application on a cat eyebrow also gives the eyebrow deeper definition. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Draw the arch of your cat eyebrow over your actual eyebrow using a dark brow pencil. The arch must be smooth, rounded and even, not pointed or angled. Outlining the shape before plucking protects your brows from accidental over-tweezing or misshaping.

    • 2

Pluck the eyebrow hairs outside the pencil lines, starting parallel with the bridge of your nose and working outward toward your temples. Only remove hair from the lower edge of the brow, never above, which expands the space between your lash and brow arch.

    • 3

Pluck any stray hairs between your eyebrows so both brows begin parallel to the side of your nose.

    • 4

Lay a cold cloth over your freshly-plucked eyebrows for 2 minutes. Remove any remaining pencil by rubbing the cloth gently into your skin. The cold cloth also reduces swelling and redness.

    • 5

Pat your eyebrow dry with paper towels. Eyebrow pencil glides onto dry skin more smoothly than wet skin.

    • 6

Color in your entire eyebrow with an eyebrow pencil. The eyebrow pencil adds definition to your cat eyebrow shape without appearing unnatural.

Tips & Warnings

  • Style your cat eyebrows before your eyelashes, eyeliner or eye shadow, as this prevents you from smudging the other makeup while tweezing or applying a cold cloth.
