How to Get Wireless Internet on a Kmart GenBook by Augen

The Kmart GenBook, a mini-computer made by Augen, contains a 10/100 Ethernet card, so you can connect an Ethernet cable between your GenBook and a broadband modem to establish an Internet connection. However, the GenBook also has a Wi-Fi feature that allows you to access the Internet without connecting cables to your device.

      Ensure you have a wireless access point at the location you want to use your GenBook. If using your GenBook at home, you need a wireless router connected to your broadband modem. Otherwise, the GenBook will not work.

      Activate the Wi-Fi feature on your GenBook. To do this, press the “FN” key, while simultaneously pressing the “F2” key.

      Double-Click the network icon that is located in your GenBook's system tray. The network icon appears as a computer monitor.

      Click the “Wireless Information” tab to reveal a list of available Wi-Fi connections. Select the name of your wireless access point from the list of available wireless connections. If you don't see the name of your wireless access point listed, click “Add New” to manually add the connection name.

      Click “Connect.” Depending upon how your wireless access point is configured, it may be necessary to enter a WEP key (access password). Click “OK.”

      Double-Click your GenBook's browser to begin browsing the Internet. To deactivate your Wi-Fi connection, simultaneously press the “FN” and “F2”keys again.
