How to Convert BRN to ICO

A file with the BRN file extension is an icon file for Windows Mobile operating systems. The BRN file is an image file in the bitmap, or BMP, format. An ICO file is also an image file in the BMP format. You can convert a BRN file to an ICO icon file by renaming the file extension from BRN to ICO. Using the File Explorer in ActiveSync, while the device is connected to the computer, rename the BRN file to ICO to convert the file to the ICO icon format.

Instructions

1. Connect the Windows Mobile device to the computer using the USB connector cable or the syncing cradle. ActiveSync will automatically launch on the computer.

2. Click the “File Explorer” option on the top navigation bar in the ActiveSync window.

3. Navigate to the BRN file to convert.

4. Right-click on the BRN file and click “Copy.”

5. Right-click on the Windows desktop on the computer and then click “Paste.” The BRN file is pasted to the desktop for easy access.

6. Open Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the Windows “Start” button and then clicking “Open Windows Explorer.”

7. Click the “Tools” option on the top taskbar in Windows Explorer and then click “Folder Options.” The Folder Options dialogue box opens.

8. Click the “View” tab in the Folder Options dialogue box.

9. Uncheck the box next to “Hide File Extensions for Known File Types.” The file extensions become visible along with file names.

10. Right-click on the BRN file on the desktop.

11. Type “ICO” over the “BRN” file extension. The BRN file is now converted to an ICO icon file.
