Saving Excel or Word Files on Your iPhone

Saving Excel or Word files to your iPhone previously required sending the file to yourself as an email attachment, or using a third-party storage app to access the file. However, Apple introduced File Sharing in iTunes, which enables you to transfer certain file types from your computer to compatible apps on your iPhone. If you have an iPhone app that can view Excel or Word documents, you should be able to transfer these file types from your PC to your iPhone via iTunes.
Step 1
Connect your iPhone to your PC using the USB cable that came with the device. If iTunes does not start up automatically, start the application manually.
Step 2
Click on your iPhone device in the iTunes sidebar and click the "Apps" button.
Step 3
Click on the iPhone app you use to open Word or Excel files in the File Sharing section of the screen and click "Add."
Step 4
Navigate to the location on your hard drive where your Word or Excel file is stored and select it. Click "Choose" to select the file. The Word or Excel file you chose will be transferred from your PC to your iPhone, and you'll be able to open and view or edit that file in the app you selected.
