How to Make Adult Diapers With Towels
Cloth diapers are economical and comfortable. They can be used for both babies and adults suffering from incontinence. While disposable adult diapers are useful for travel or special situations, adult diapers made from cloth are perfectly acceptable for everyday use. Disposable adult diapers may not be beneficial for some adults, as individuals with sensitive skin may break out into a rash from wearing synthetic plastic diapers all day. If you have old towels around your home, you can repurpose them to make your own adult cloth diapers.

1
Unfold one adult disposable diaper and lay it flat on a table. Use the disposable diaper as a pattern for creating your adult cloth diaper.
-
2
Lay a cotton or terrycloth towel on a table and smooth it flat with your hands. Lay the disposable diaper on top of the towel and trace its shape onto the towel with a fabric pencil. Cut out the shape. Repeat so you have two identical diaper shapes made of the towel material.

3
Cut a rectangle from a piece of polyurethane laminated fabric to fit inside the towel diaper shapes you just cut. Pin the polyurethane fabric to the top of one of the towel piece with sewing pins.
-
4
Sew the polyurethane fabric to the towel with a zig-zag stitch on a sewing machine. Remove pins as you sew.
-
5
Measure the circumference of the top of your thighs with a fabric measuring tape. Write down the figure in inches. Cut two pieces of 1/4-inch wide elastic equal to the length of your thigh measurements.
-
6
Pin the elastic pieces to the leg openings on either side of one of the cut-out towel pieces. Sew the elastic to the towel with an elastic stitch on a sewing machine. Remove pins as you sew.
-
7
Pin the two towel pieces together with sewing pins. Sew the pieces together with a zig-zag stitch on a sewing machine. Remove pins as you sew.
-
8
Cut out two pieces of hook-and-ladder tape, each 3 inches long. This will give you two loop pieces and two hook pieces of the tape, each 3 inches long. Use fabric adhesive to attach the two loop tape pieces to the outside of the tabs at one end of the towel diaper. Attach the two hook tape pieces to the inside of the tabs at the other end of the diaper. Use the tape to secure the diapers around you while wearing them.
