3
Sand the rusty area of the chrome with course to fine grit sandpaper. Start with course grit sandpaper to remove major blemishes in the chrome and finish by smoothing with a fine grit sandpaper.
-
4
Protect the rest of the stove with painters tape and newspaper. Make sure to cover all parts of the stove that you do not wish to paint.
-
5
Apply one coat of primer to the chrome using a paint brush. Spread the primer evenly and allow to dry for at least three hours before moving one.
-
6
Paint over the primer with spray paint. There are spray paints available that look like chrome; however, you can choose to use any type of spray paint. Hold the can 12 inches above the stove and move over the area at a slow, even pace. Allow the paint to dry for one hour and apply another coat.
-
7
Apply a coat of sealant over the entire area that you painted and allow to dry for at least 24 hours before using the stove. The sealant will prevent rust in the future and keep your newly painted stove looking fabulous for years to come.
