How to Create a Template for an Impact Printer Using Open Office
An “impact printer” is one that prints characters on the page using forcible impact of a printhead to transfer ink to paper. A non-impact printer is one that does not utilize impact for the transfer of ink, such as laser and ink-jet printers. However, there is no difference when creating templates in OpenOffice, or any other program, to be used with impact printers. Simply design your template as you normally would do, and then save the file in the “template” format. For example, if you are creating your template in OpenOffice Writer, the word processing program included in the OpenOffice suite of products, save the template in the OpenOffice template format.
