How to Use Sharkfin Shears With a Comb

How to Use Sharkfin Shears With a Comb thumbnail
A regular hair cutting scissors forces you to hold your hand in unnatural positions.

The Shark Fin shears offer a more ergonomically-friendly way for professionals to cut hair without putting additional strain on the tendons and muscles in the hand. The finger holes on the Shark Fin shears swivel as you move your hand, allowing you to hold your hand and arm in more comfortable positions, especially if you cut hair for a living. Using a comb can help you make the cuts evenly and in small sections at a time to prevent making mistakes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Comb out the hair completely to remove any tangles from the hair.

    • 2

Spray the hair with water so it is damp, but not soaking.

    • 3

Comb away a small section of hair to begin cutting.

    • 4

Pinch the section of the hair flat between your fingers, leaving the comb between your fingers and the Shark Fin shears to help protect your fingers from the scissors.

    • 5

Trim off the desired amount. Remove a little bit at a time across the length of the comb, keeping the scissors as close to the comb as possible without touching it. The comb and scissors should be parallel to each other.

    • 6

Comb apart another section, keeping some of the previously cut section so you can gauge the proper length for your next cut.

    • 7

Repeat Steps 4 through 6 until you have cut all the hair to the desired length.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hair will be shorter once it dries so avoid cutting it too short. You can always cut more off later.
