How to Troubleshoot a CF-28

Panasonic's Toughbook line of laptop computers is built to withstand extreme field conditions while remaining fully operable. Even among Toughbooks, the CF-28 is particularly remarkable for its resilience, due to its magnesium-alloy case, shock-mounted hard drive and moisture-resistant design. Despite these features, even the best of machines can break down and the CF-28 has a variety of error codes and indicator lights to assist you in troubleshooting.

Connect your Toughbook to its AC charger and connect the charger to a functional wall socket. The battery indicator light on the front panel of the computer should illuminate in red, orange or green. If it does not, remove the battery from its compartment on the right side of the computer and reinsert it, ensuring that it slides all the way into the back of the compartment. If the light still does not illuminate, your Toughbook either needs a new power cable or it has a broken power jack.

Inspect the computer's battery indicator light. If the light is blinking orange, the computer is too warm or too cold to charge the battery properly. Relocate the computer to a room temperature environment. The computer's battery must be between 50 degrees F and 122 degrees F to charge properly. If the light is blinking red, either the battery or charger is defective.
