How to Keep Concrete From Leaking
Concrete is a hardy material and can withstand bitter conditions such as snow, rain and ice. Concrete does eventually wear, though, especially if a sealer has not been applied. If your concrete begins leaking, you can quickly end up with water seeping through the material during a rainstorm. A concrete sealer will stop the current leaks and prevent additional ones. Applying concrete stain on top of the sealer will have your concrete looking like new. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Put on a breathing mask and gloves. Ensure that your entire body is covered by wearing either a hazmat suit or old pants and a old long-sleeve shirt.
-
2
Wash the concrete with a wire brush and powdered concrete cleaner. To apply the powder, spread it over the concrete with a broom or brush. Let the powder sit on the concrete for 10 to 15 minutes, then scrub with the wire brush. Some types of powder require that you wet the concrete prior to applying it. After scrubbing the concrete, rinse it thoroughly with water.

Apply the concrete sealer to the concrete with a paint roller. Ensure the entire wall is coated evenly, smoothing out all bumps and rough spots. ConcreteNetwork.com suggests applying a thin second coat after the first coat dries.
-
4
Allow the sealer to dry completely. The drying process varies for each type of sealer. Read the manufacturer’s advice on the product’s label.
-
5
Apply concrete stain after the sealer has dried. Use a plastic sprayer to spray the stain onto the concrete. Ensure that the entire area of concrete is coated. Do not overspray and allow puddles to form.
