How to Iron a Girl's Petticoat
A petticoat is an undergarment, but it is still needs some attention from your iron occasionally to avoid bunching and kinks. A wrinkled petticoat can disturb the outer look of your dress or skirt if the fabric is thin enough. Iron straight, simple petticoats instead of the overly voluminous ones. Voluminous, highly puffy petticoats need to maintain their fluffy feel to properly add volume to a skirt. Check the tag on the petticoat before you begin. Don’t iron it unless it’s starched cotton. Light tulle petticoats can sustain severe damage from ironing. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lay the petticoat on the edge of your ironing board. Position it over the actual edge, so one side of the petticoat is on top of the board while the other side is hanging off the bottom.
-
2
Set your iron to the cotton setting. If your iron doesn’t have preprogrammed settings, set it on the lightest heat possible.
-
-
3
Run a hand towel under a stream of room-temperature water. Ring out the towel so it’s barely damp. Place the towel over the petticoat, protecting the sensitive fabric from direct heat.
-
4
Iron over the towel to smooth the fabric beneath. Once you iron the full side of the petticoat, lift the towel and rotate the petticoat to expose the other side.
-
5
Iron the other side once you re-wet your towel. Hang the petticoat from your shower rod using clothespins to allow it to dry fully.
