How to Repair an M753 Camera Flash

The Kodak M753 camera supports several flash modes. If the flash mode doesn't match your current lighting conditions, it may appear not to work. Heavy shadows indoors or outdoors as well as nighttime lighting all pose challenges for the flash. The flash-to-subject distance in relation to the zoom position also affects whether the flash will work properly. Consider these factors and your flash will support you when a photographic opportunity comes around.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Flash" mode button, which has a lightening bolt icon, on the top of the Kodak M753 camera to scroll through the available flash modes. Select the "Auto Flash" lightening bolt icon with the letter "A" to use the automatic flash settings. Use this mode when taking pictures in a dimly lit room or cloudy outdoor areas.

    • 2

Select the "Fill" lightening bolt icon when the subject is standing in a shadow of an object or directly in front of a brightly lit area.

    • 3

Select "Red-eye" to correct red-eye conditions by having the flash fire twice – once to allow the subject's eyes to become accustomed to the flash, and a second time when the picture is snapped. Press the "Menu" button to the right of the LCD to turn the Red-eye setting on or off. Navigate using the “Up” and “Down” directional arrow buttons and select "Red-eye Pre-flash." Press "OK." Select "On" or "Off" and press "OK."

    • 4

Press the "Flash" mode button again to scroll through the available flash modes. Select the "Off" lightening bolt in a circle icon to disable the flash.

    • 5

Verify that you are within flash distance for the desired zoom position. Maintain a distance of between two and 11.5 feet for wide angle shots, and two to 6.6 feet for telephone shots.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the Close-up picture-taking mode instead of using a flash when subjects are at a close range, such as two feet or closer. Turn the “Picture” mode dial to the "Close-up" icon, which looks like a flower, to select this setting.

  • Use the Backlight SCN mode in addition to using the Fill flash mode when subjects are in front of a lighted area or in a shadow. Turn the Mode dial on the top of the camera and select "SCN." Navigate using the directional arrow buttons and select "Backlight." Press "OK." Alternatively, select "Candle light" to take pictures of subjects in dim lighting, or "Sunset" to take pictures of sunset color-depth variations.

  • Frequent use of the flash and viewing pictures on the LCD screen will quickly deplete the battery.

  • Use only Kodak Li-ion rechargeable batteries to minimize the risk of fire or an explosion.
