How to Make Shortcuts of App Widgets

Android smartphone users have the ability to create shortcut widgets to applications on their phone's home screens. These shortcut widgets, when tapped, open the application as though the user had opened it from the application drawer. You can add these shortcut widgets for applications you use on a frequent basis, giving you fast access to these applications when you wake your phone's screen.

Instructions

    • 1

Tap the app drawer icon on your Android phone to open the app drawer. This displays the apps you have installed on your Android device.

    • 2

Press and hold down on the app you would like to create a shortcut widget. After approximately one second, the app drawer will vanish, and you will be holding the icon over the top of your home screen.

    • 3

Drag the app shortcut widget to the home screen area you would like it to rest, and then release your finger from the screen. You have successfully made a shortcut widget on your Android phone.
