How to Cover a Gingerbread Man in Sprinkles
Gingerbread men are often associated with Christmas treats, but they also made an appearance during the holiday, All-Hallows Eve. Single ladies in England would bake and eat gingerbread men on this day to bring them luck in finding a husband. These sweet, zesty cookies are fun to decorate with icing, small candies and sprinkles. Covering a gingerbread man entirely with sprinkles will make your cookie slightly crunchy and very sweet. Things You'll Need
- Cookie trays
- Plastic spatula
- Frosting
- Teaspoon
- Sprinkles
- 2 pasteurized egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon of cream of tarter
- 2 cups of confectioner's sugar
- Bowl
- Hand mixer
- Piping bag
- Sugar
- Water
- Spray bottle

Place cooled cookies on a cookie tray. Dip the plastic spatula into the frosting and cover the gingerbread man with a thin layer of frosting. Scoop up a teaspoon of sprinkles, then shake the spoon over the cookie to cover the cookie with the sprinkles. Scoop up more sprinkles as needed to completely cover the cookies.

Whip two pasteurized egg whites with 1/4 teaspoon of cream of tartar and 2 cups of confectioner's sugar. Place the whipped ingredients in a piping bag. Pipe a collar and buttons on the gingerbread man, or pipe in an entire suit of clothes. Pour sprinkles over the royal icing and allow them to harden into place, or carefully poke them into the icing as details on the clothes.

Combine sugar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the cooked gingerbread lightly with the sugar water. Sprinkle the decorations over the moistened gingerbread men. Allow them to dry for one minute before handling them.
