How to Create an RSS Ticker

How to Create an RSS Ticker thumbnail
Your RSS ticker can give you quick updates throughout your work day.

In the news world, a "ticker" consists of scrolling text that gives short updates on the most recent headlines. The idea is to give people small snippets of information to pique their interest. If you're a big reader of RSS feeds, an "RSS ticker" could give you these small snippets right from your Internet browser. One way to do this is to set up an RSS ticker that updates across the bottom of your Firefox browser.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Firefox browser and navigate to the Firefox "RSS Ticker" page.

    • 2

Click "Add to Firefox" from the RSS Ticker page. Follow the prompts and provide the permissions to install the feature to your browser.

    • 3

Close Firefox and reopen it once the feature has been added.

    • 4

Navigate to an RSS feed that you want to include on the ticker. Copy its URL from the browser window.

    • 5

Click "Bookmarks" from the top menu in Firefox, and then select "Manage Bookmarks." Then click "File," and then "New Live Bookmark."

    • 6

Paste the URL you copied into the "Feed Location" box, give the feed a name in the "Name" box, and then click "OK." Your RSS will now appear in the ticker you just installed to your browser.
