How to Troubleshoot an AcuRite Clock thumbnail
Most AcuRite clocks take AA batteries.

AcuRite manufactures timepieces that maintain split-second precision by synchronizing with the National Institute of Standards and Technologies' atomic clock in Colorado. The clock contains a built-in receiver that picks up the low-frequency signal. If your AcuRite clock is working properly, you can rest assured that you'll always have the right time. If you're worried that it's not, you can take a number of steps to troubleshoot any problems. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Open the compartment at the back of your clock and check that the batteries are inserted correctly. The batteries should be more than six years from their expiration date.

    • 2

Insert a new set of batteries if problems persist. The type of batteries you'll need will depend on the AcuRite model you're using. Check your user manual or the batteries you remove if you're unsure.

    • 3

Press the "Reset" button on the back of your clock.

    • 4

Position your clock away from any heavy stone or metal walls and at least 3 feet from other electronic devices.

    • 5

Point the back of your clock toward Colorado. Consult an online map and use a compass to determine the direction you should point your clock.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your clock can take up to 20 minutes to re-synchronize after a battery change.
