Instructions

    • 1

Fold one piece of thread in half so that its ends touch and the other end looks like a loop.

    • 2

Push the loop end of the thread through the circle on the bottom of the earring hook. Pull the loop through the circle until there is about 1 inch of thread through the circle.

    • 3

Gather the two touching ends of the thread and pull them through the thread loop until the thread is securely attached to the earring hook. Once this step is finished, the earring hook should have two trailing thread tails.

    • 4

Gather the two trailing ends of thread and twist them together, making them into a single piece of thread. Push this thread through a bead, sliding the bead to the top of the thread so that it touches the earring hook.

    • 5

Place a wooden skewer beneath the bead and tie the thread loosely around it. Carefully slide the skewer out of the thread, tightening the knot as you remove the skewer. Once finished, the earring should have a bead with a secure knot tied beneath it.

    • 6

Repeat Step 5 with a new bead each time until you run out of thread to tie beads onto.

    • 7

Tie a finishing knot into the thread after the last bead is placed onto the earring. Do this by simply tying another knot onto the last knot you tied to secure the last bead.

    • 8

Place a drop of super glue onto the last knot to help it stay securely tied. Allow the glue to dry for about one minute then trim off any excess thread trails on the earring.

    • 9

Repeat the procedure used to create this earring to create its mate.

Tips & Warnings

  • Nylon thread creates a very flexible, dangling beaded earring. For a more rigid earring, use tiger tail thread or jewelry wire.

  • Use only beads with openings 6mm to 10mm in diameter to ensure that they stay on the thread once it is knotted.
