How to Make Seaweed for an Underwater Party

Note that seaweed varies in color, so try using yellows and browns in your seaweed decorations.

If your party has an underwater theme, your decorations should reflect this by using such items as seashells, starfish and other items such as seaweed. You can create the illusion of seaweed using simple fabrics and items, vines or even real seaweed in your decorations. You can hang the seaweed on the walls, ceiling or doors, or even drape them over chairs and tables.

Things You'll Need

• Vines
• Streamers
• Scissors
• Clear adhesive tape
• Fresh seaweed (optional)
• Poster board

Instructions

1. Use green streamers or cut strips of green fabric. Crumble the streamers or pieces of fabric into a ball to create a wrinkled look. Cut them to varying lengths and tape them up on the walls or on the ceiling. Also try using varying shades of green.

2. Collect green vines from outdoors or purchase some at a local greenhouse. Hang them on the ceiling, around door frames or against the walls. You can also decorate the windows with vines.

3. Buy fresh seaweed at your local fish supply store. Arrange the seaweed on a large piece of poster board and let it dry. The seaweed will adhere to the poster board upon drying. Paint, draw or glue other decorations around the seaweed.
