How to Coordinate Blazers With a Sequin Top
Sequins used to be for night-time clothing only, but sequined tops can be worn during the day, even to the office, if you cooridinate them tastefully with the rest of your outfit. One of the best ways to combine the flashiness of sequins with elegance is to add a blazer over the top of a sequined top. Choose your look carefully to stand out from the crowd while fitting in with today's fashion sense.

1
Choose a solid color. Sequins tend to catch the light and reflect it in a variety of colors and shades. Choose a solid color for your blazer to go over muli-colored sequin tops. This will tone down the sparkle a bit. Wear the blazer open to show off the sequins, but the eye will move to the contrast of the solid color.

Go for a simple design. Your blazer should not be as complicated as your sequined top. Sequins tend to scatter the light and cause the eye to wander randomly. Your blazer should have a distinct line across your shoulders and down your arms to give the eye an orderly path to travel. The viewer will start with the sparkle of your top, move to the clean lines of your blazer, and follow that line down your arms to legs and shoes.

Pick up at least one color in the sequins. You blazer shouldn't look like an afterthought. Make sure it has a similar color that the sequins have, even if it is a slighly different shade. This will give you a coordinated look and avoid the impression that you just threw something over your top to tone it down. Don't pick the wildest color in the sequins; choose a color that is slightly muted to accent.

4
Go for monochromatic. If your sequins are all one color, try a matching blazer in that same color. For example, a black blazer over a black sequined top can provide an elegant look for night or day. The single color provides an irresistable cohesiveness to your look that says you have it together.

Tips & Warnings
When you buy sequined tops, shop for blazers at the same time. This will help you avoid scrambling to find a matching blazer to wear at the last minute. You can coordinate the blazer with other outfits, so it won't be a one-look purchase.
