How to Read NOOKbooks on Other eReaders

How to Read NOOKbooks on Other eReaders thumbnail
All books downloaded on the NOOK, NOOK Color or NOOK Simple Touch are in ePub format.

Though they initially supported the PDM eReader format, Barnes and Noble switched to ePub as the official format for all books sold on their NOOK devices. The ePub format is one of the most widely used digital book formats in the world, so NOOKbooks do not require any sort of conversion to be viewed on other eReaders. Instead, you must simply save the file from your NOOK library and place it on your eReader device.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a Web browser, and navigate to "barnesandnoble.com." Click the "Sign In" button at the top of the page, type your Barnes and Noble account log-in credentials in the spaces provided and click the "Sign In" button to sign in to your account.

    • 2

Click the "My NOOK" link at the top of the page, followed by the "Go To Library" link.

    • 3

Click the "Download" button beneath the title of the NOOKbook that you want to download. The ePub file will automatically begin downloading onto the computer.

    • 4

Connect the other eReader to the computer via the USB connection cable that came with the device and place the ePub file you downloaded in Step 3 onto the device. Every eReader is different, but most have you drag the ePub file into a specific folder on the device. If you are not sure how to place the file on your eReader, see the support documentation that came with it.

    • 5

Eject the eReader from the computer, and begin reading the NOOKbook on the new eReader.
