Excessive cords lead to clutter.

Loose and unbundled cords create a tripping hazard around your desk and can pull on each other, eventually causing a cord to become unplugged. Bundling the cords around your desk keeps them out of the way and untangled. Your work space looks cleaner and it is easier to add and remove cords when necessary. Bundle the cords on your desk to make a nicer work space and save yourself from troublesome tangles.

Instructions

Untangle the mess. Disconnect all of the wires from your computer and peripheral devices and untangle them.

    • 2

Replace all of your power cords. Attach binder clips, or special clips sold at computer stores, where cords go off the edge of the desk. Place each cord in the jaws of a clip, and then attach the clip to the edge of the desk. Gather the cords together behind the desk and secure them at two-foot intervals with pipe cleaners, twist ties, zip ties or hook-and-loop fasteners. Coil any slack cord at the power outlet and secure the coils the same way you bundled the cords.

Attach all of the cords that connect your computer to peripheral devices. Make coils on these cords wherever there is slack and secure them the way you secured the power cord coils. If two cords go from your computer to the same area of the desk, bundle them together with pipe cleaners, twist ties, zip ties or hook-and-loop fasteners.

Tips & Warnings

  • Connect devices to your computer via Bluetooth or WiFi to eliminate the need for some of the cords.
