How to Dress Fresh Steamed Asparagus
Although you would never know it by looking at it, asparagus is a member of the lily family of plants. An annual plant, it can produce asparagus stalks for as long as 15 years. The stalks have a fibrous outer covering which should be peeled prior to cooking. The ends of the asparagus should also be trimmed -- usually by bending the asparagus stalk until it snaps where the stalk is tender. Once cooked -- usually through steaming -- asparagus can be served a number of different ways, including with sauces and dressings. Does this Spark an idea?
