How to Fix Brassy Hair Highlights
Trying a new hair color or highlights is an exciting experience if it is done correctly. Poorly executed hair color application can result in bright, brassy hair, which is a telltale sign of bleaching gone wrong. Things You'll Need
- Rubber gloves
- Semi-permanent hair color
- 10 volume hair developer
- Hair color application bottle with a screw-top
- 2 tablespoons blue hair toner
- Sink
- Clean towel
- Deep conditioning mask

Place on a pair of rubber gloves.

Combine semi-permanent hair color and a 10 volume hair developer in a hair color application bottle. The 10 volume developer is used to allow the hair to absorb color without creating additional lightening or lifting.

Add 2 tablespoons blue toner into the bottle.

Place the screw top onto the hair color application bottle.

Apply the hair color onto the hair from the root to the ends.

Leave the hair color to sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

Rinse the color from the hair using warm water. Use a clean towel to remove excess water form the hair.

Apply a deep conditioning mask to the hair. Allow the mask to sit for 10 minutes.

Rinse the conditioning mask away using warm water. Remove excess water from the hair with a towel.

Dry the hair as usual.

Tips & Warnings
Using a blue or purple tinted shampoo and conditioner on a weekly basis will help prevent the brassy tones from returning.
Avoid dying the hair a lighter shade because that can cause the hair to get brighter and cause additional brassy tones.
